Hundreds of prospective Sixth Form students and their parents visited the West Hatch High School Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday 9th November to find out more about the post-GCSE courses available, tour the school and learn about West Hatch’s successes.
Talks were given by Headteacher Daniel Leonard, Assistant Headteacher Victoria Schaefer, Head of Sixth Form Anjala Sharma and students Ricco Jayakody and Hannah Purton.
Current Sixth Form students acted as guides and showed visitors around the various departments and Sixth Form Centre and were also on hand to answer questions.
Headteacher Daniel Leonard said: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many prospective Sixth Form students and their parents to this year’s Sixth Form open evening and to have the opportunity to highlight our record-breaking A-level results this year.
“These are exciting times for West Hatch, not just academically with our exam successes but with the expansion of the school and its facilities, some of which will be ready early next year.
“While we are preparing to welcome additional Year 7 students from next September, all West Hatch students will benefit from the superb new teaching facilities which are to be built in the coming months.”
Following their A-level results last summer which saw 67% of students achieve A*-B grades and 93% A*-C grades, all West Hatch High School Sixth Form students achieved places at universities, employment or on prestigious Higher Apprenticeships.
The progress that students made placed the school in the top 10% of schools nationally.
The deadline for applications for Sixth Form places for next September is January 31st 2018.
