A talented quartet of children from Hereward Primary School in Loughton, came second in a National Quiz-Club Semi-Final in Braintree. The team members were Karis-Joy (Year 6, captain), Rhys (Year 5), Rachel (Year 4) and Beniamin (Year 3).

Competing against schools from Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Essex and London boroughs, the Hereward team almost led from start to finish. They were just pipped on the final question. As one of the runners-ups, there is still a chance that they will get to compete in the National Finals in Oxford next month.

Headteacher Matt Woolard said: “It was an incredible performance from the team.Their knowledge of a wide variety of subjects is phenomenal and their composure and teamwork throughout was equally impressive. We are so proud of them.”
