Rotherfield Village Pre-school is a not-for-profit charity, and has been a part of the village for the last 60 years.
We were lucky enough to move into our wonderful, purpose built premises next to the recreation ground in 2011. The building has a large playroom, carefully zoned to give the children the opportunity to experience arts and craft, role play, quiet reading or building and exploring. There is also a classroom area where the children gather for registration, and staff can take small numbers of children for group work.
Outside, we have a secure decked area set up as an outdoor classroom and learning environment. On days where the weather is good, the children are allowed to ‘free flow’ between the inside and outside, choosing where and with what they want to play.
As a pre-school, we provide more than just childcare – we are also preparing your child for school. Following the Early Years Foundation Stage, we work with the children to help them to gain core skills in communication and language, personal and social development and physical development, as well as early mathematics and literacy. We are also very proud of our transition to school program, in conjunction with the local primary schools. More information can be found on our Education page.
Our ethos is to ‘make it good, for every child, every day’, and we do this by allowing the children to explore, play and learn as they wish, with supportive, caring and experienced staff always on hand to assist them.
